Actor Headshots · Phoenix & Scottsdale
Type. Character. Range. Authenticity. Those are the signals a casting professional needs to read quickly — and they're what every session here is built around. Directed by someone who has also worked as an actor and knows exactly what that room is looking for.
Whether you're building your first professional casting portfolio or updating the images that represent an established career, the goal is the same: photographs that represent you at your professional best.
It comes from understanding expression, posture, eye contact, and authenticity under pressure — the same things you already train for. Byron's own time on the other side of the camera means direction here isn't generic ("just relax!"). It's specific, informed, and built to get you to your type, your range, or your most castable self, on command.
You don't perform for the camera. We direct you through it.
20+ years behind the camera, with real experience on the actor's side of it too. That gives Byron an understanding of the nerves, pressure, and vulnerability that come with an actor headshot session — the pressure to convey range in a handful of frames, and the difference between a photo that looks like you and one that actually books the room. That perspective shapes every session here.
Camera-ready hair and makeup is included in every session, not an upsell. Sylvia tailors your look to the specific type or role you're photographing for — natural and commercial-ready, or styled for a theatrical/character look — so your image matches what you're actually submitting for.
Casting uses your photo in three ways: a theatrical headshot for film, TV and stage, a commercial headshot for advertising, and a character or EPK look for the roles you want to be seen for. Sessions at our Scottsdale studio are built to deliver all three in one visit, with professional hair and makeup included and direction through every look.
We photograph adult actors and young performers — child actors (11 and under) book from the same form — and serve actors throughout the Phoenix Valley, including Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Glendale. Files are delivered casting-ready for Actors Access, Casting Networks and agency submissions.

Actor Headshot Experience — all-inclusive.
Byron is one of my favorite go-to photographers. His wife Sylvia does fantastic makeup too. I've used him for headshots for modeling and acting, my husband's physician and author headshots.
The Actor Headshot Experience is $550 plus tax, all-inclusive: professional hair and makeup, direction through each look, up to 3 outfit changes, an actor slate, and 3 professionally retouched finals. A $100 deposit reserves your session, with the balance due at your shoot.

No. Direction is a core part of every session, not an afterthought. You'll be guided into each look and expression rather than left to figure it out on your own.
Yes. 3 are included; additional retouches are $25 each — about half the standard rate, since we know working actors often need a fuller set across multiple types.
Yes. Child actors (11 and under) can book directly from the form below, and we send a prep guide written for young actors and their parents. For any talent under 18, please plan on one adult guardian attending.
A theatrical headshot is geared toward film, TV and stage casting: a more emotional, intense look with dark neutral wardrobe so the focus stays on your eyes. A commercial headshot is aimed at advertising and TV: approachable, usually smiling, with more color and layers. Your session can also include a character or EPK look for the roles you want to be seen for.
For theatrical looks, stick to dark, solid neutrals such as black, gray, brown or beige. For commercial looks, add a favorite color that suits your skin tone, plus layers like a jacket or sweater. Avoid logos, busy prints, and sheer or puffy fabrics. After you book, we send a prep guide with full wardrobe, hair and makeup guidance.
Plan on about 2 hours. Your session includes professional hair and makeup, direction, your actor slate and up to three looks, such as theatrical, commercial, character or an optional EPK look. Your private online gallery is ready within 3 business days.
